GENDER AFFIRMING SERVICES

Explorations. Clarity. Letters.

Live Your Life Fully

Our lives are gendered. We are assigned a gender, sometimes even before birth. With gender comes specific hopes and expectations for our lives.

Some of us are comfortable enough with the gender assigned. Some are not. Some have learned or discovered or realized there is more to gender than a binary.

We negotiate our identities internally and externally. With the right support, there can be harmony. Without, there is discord as the inside or the outside asserts dominance.

The dominant culture believes and practices a gender binary based on assumptions about the kind of lives possible for a person based on assumptions about their sex. Gender-questioning or gender-expansive folk are likely to feel constrained in their explorations, discoveries, expressions, and identities.

Your life does not have to be limited by unexamined or ill-fitting gender assumptions, rules, or identities. You have more than the binary of conforming with the external world or retreating to your inner world.

For some, exploration may lead to greater comfort with the gender assigned. Others may find greater confidence expressing and identifying more expansively or fluidly. I can help.

I facilitate explorations. I do not determine destinations or outcomes. I am interested in you knowing who you are and how you want to be in the world. I am skilled at facilitating self-discovery and self-confidence.

It's your life. Live it to the fullest.

I am a cisgender male, heterosexual white Gender Therapist. I acknowledge the known and unknown biases that can accompany these identity positions. I actively work to expose, recognize and overcome these biases and am willing and able to be accountable. I provide gender affirming psycheducation and psychotherapy for:

What we do and how we do it can be collaboratively developed with everyone who is participating.

LETTERS

I write recommendation letters for hormone therapy, surgeries, and other gender-affirming procedures requiring a referral from a mental health professional. My initial visit for referrals and any resulting letters are offered free of charge. Letter content includes the requirements of insurance companies, WPATH Standards of Care and the minimum amount of personal information necessary for approval. Psychotherapy is not a requirement for recommendation letters. It is available at my usual fee if you're interested in psychotherapy. Iā€™m available for a single psychotherapy visit, a flurry of visits, or ongoing therapy, depending on your needs and interests.
